You're planning to crank out lots of fun, fast miles on pavement and even light gravel rail trails. The tech you get A 2x11 Shimano 105 drivetrain has a wide range of gears for riding on any terrain. The lightweight aluminum frame has fender mounts and a stable Endurance Geometry for a confident, comfortable ride. Plus, tubeless ready rims and hydraulic disc brakes for stopping power in any conditions. A carbon fork and IsoZone handlebar absorb fatiguing road vibration. The final word Our best aluminum Domane boasts race-worthy parts and a comfortable ride quality that can't be matched on long rides and rough roads. Why you'll love it - This versatile bike is fully capable of taking on rough roads, challenging rides, races, and even light gravel riding - The unique IsoSpeed Carbon fork, which swoops forward toward the dropouts, absorbs vibrations from the road so your arms won't fatigue as quickly - Setting your wheels up tubeless reduces the overall weight of your bike and the chance you'll get a flat - Bigger tire clearance lets you run wider tires for more traction and stability on rail trails and other light gravel roads
The third generation U.P. & U.P.P.E.R. frames are lighter, nimbler and more fun than ever. They also still pass our ultimate test: We only offer frames we want to ride ourselves. -With road tires, it is a very fast road bike -With big road/cross/gravel tires (32-40mm), it’s a go-anywhere bike perfect for mixed surface rides and most gravel routes With 650b mountain bike tires, it's unstoppable on very tough terrain yet much faster on pavement than you'd expect thanks to the road position Chainring(s), frame and tire all fight for space just behind the bottom bracket. Mountain (and some gravel) bikes solve this with a wider crank, but that hurts your pedal stance (Q-factor) and thus your pedaling efficiency. Instead we drop the right chainstay to move it out of this crowded area, allowing it to be wider and therefore stiffer (twice the width will give you eight times the stiffness!) -- Probably the most copied feature of the original U.P., but still few fully understand why and how to optimize this.
MONSTER TIRES, NIMBLE RIDE The OPEN U.P. inspired a generation of gravel bikes that could fit up to 2.1” tires. The WI.DE. (Winding Detours) can run even bigger tires while still fitting road cranks! The monster tires help you conquer the most extreme terrain, the performance geometry & narrow Q-factor keep you efficient while the steering geometry keeps you nimble. WHAT IS THE WI.DE.? --With 650b gravel or mountain bike tires up to 2.4”(61mm), rutted singletrack, slippery roots and loose rocks are no match --With 700c gravel tires up to 46mm, even the toughest gravel roads are tackled at lightning speed --With 700c road tires (we recommend 35-40mm wide), you have the most comfortable road bike ever invented
